![]() ![]() Here’s a look back at the humble beginnings of industrial sewing machines and how they played a role in the industrial revolution. The sewing machine changed the way clothing was made and the speed at which clothes were manufactured, transforming how the whole clothing industry operated. Textiles were a dominant industry during this time, and the textile industry was one of the first to utilise modern production methods. Machine tools were developed, and we saw the rise of the mechanised factory system. It saw the transition from hand production methods to machines, chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, and an increase in steam and water power. The Industrial Revolution saw the transformation of the manufacturing processes in Europe and the US from around 1760 to the mid-19th century.
